Audiology is a relatively new health science area and it is described generally as hearing science. However audiology is wider than this description so most proper definition is ‘ audiology is a scientific ares which is interested in normal hearing and balance function, and trying to prevent disorders of this functions, assesing hearing and balance functions by using on ıts own special measurement batteries, selecting and adapting proper hearing aids and doing other rehabilitative applications.
İn this area all application rights on health care specialist who are called as audiologists. Being audiologist was known by laws of Government of Republic of Türkiye in 2011. İn this law it has a occupation definition. According to this definition; audiologist graduates from audiology graduation schools and checks the hearing and balance and tries to prevent this disorders. According to diagnose and sending of interested special medical Doctor, audiologists do their definements and rehabilitations, applicate hearing aids.
Necessity of audiologists is really more in our country. Until 2011 audiologists were trained in master degree programs in different universities. However the number of trained audiologists are not enough for our country. So audiology graduation schools were established. First audiology graduation school was established in İstanbul University by Associated Proffesor Ahmet Ataş. Then in following year, in our university in health sciences faculty ıt was established and accepted first students
Our school accepted students who take their points from MF-3 area of university exam. We have 4 years bachelor degree education after 1 year english preparing class. Students who graduated from this school they will have audiologist title.
