Institute of Life Sciences and Biotechnology is a research institute focused on Research & Development with world class academic staff in Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. The Institute continues to work in order to produce knowledge for the benefit of humanity, in the fields of health and biology, to develop new technologies and to transfer developed technologies to application areas. The institute implements ambitious projects in basic sciences such as biochemistry, biology and biotechnology and contributes to science in areas such as biological research, clinical research, diagnostic sector, pharmaceutical and vaccine industry.

The Institute of Life Sciences and Biotechnology, which provides an important opportunity for high school students who want to improve their horizons, is proud to guide future scientists in the field of basic sciences, with researchers coming in from distinguished universities around the world, especially the United States.

Students will enjoy learning and producing knowledge in the programme which will be held together between the theoretical and practical applications in the fields of Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the High School Summer School which will be held for 10 weekdays between 1 and 12th of July, 2019. Students who have the chance to practice in the laboratories equipped with the most technologically advanced devices will have the opportunity to experience their substantial contribution to science.

We are awaiting our dear students as the Beykoz Institute, which brings together students who want to experience being an academician during their highschool years under the roof of Bezmialem Vakıf University,

Students attending the course:

• have reached a basic level of knowledge in Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology.

• Understand the basic characteristics of research in subjects such as genetic studies, cancer treatment research and microbiology.

• Understand what it means to design research in basic sciences and gain valuable experiences that can be used in guiding their professional life.

Beykoz Institute of Life Sciences and Biotechnology provides the following for high school students attending the programme ;

• Education in a historical place, campus atmosphere intertwined with nature,

• Courses taught in English by foreign academicians who have completed their education in leading universities abroad.

• Working in laboratories equipped with the latest technology,

• Provides the opportunity to observe the progress of the ongoing TUBITAK projects.

• At the end of the course students will be given a participation certificate.

Transportation and Food:

The course programme is free of charge and 500 TL will be paid for meals, transportation and laboratory supplies.

• Lunch will be eaten at the Institute cafeteria.

• During the course, the bus service between Vatan Campus and Beykoz Campus will be available between 07:30 and 17:30.

• Students are not offered accommodation.

Course Date : 1 – 12 July 2019 (10 Weekdays )

Training Language : All courses at the summer school will be 100 % English.

Admission Requirements:

• All high school students can participate in the program.

• In the application form, name, last name, school-class, mobile phone, e-mail section must be filled, transcript and reference letter should be added.

• The quota is 15 people.

• The final registration will be carried out when the student whose application is accepted pays the 500 TL fee.

Important Dates:

• Application Deadline : June 3, 2019

• Disclosure of the list of accepted students : June 12, 2019

• Deadline for Final Registration and Fee Payment: June 19, 2019

• Disclosure of Substitute Listing: 21 June 2019

• Disclosure of Last List: June 24, 2019
