Today there are more than 7 thousand diseases known throughout the world that classify as Rare Diseases. Rare diseases affect 300 million peoples lives worldwide and 7 million people in Turkey. These figures unfold how substantially large this rare disease problem is and how we cannot turn a blind eye over it. A great deal is assigned to us doctors and health personnel in the diagnosis and treatment of Rare Diseases. "

Our rector Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu who underlines  how important it is for the society to be aware of rare diseases also states , "The most important problem we are faced with these diseases is the unawareness of the society and families regarding the issue. This is why it is very important to create an awareness towards Rare Diseases. I thank everyone who has arranged this event in order to raise an awareness for Rare Diseases and to those that have contributed."

The second day of the event began with the opening speech of our Head of Health Sciences Faculty Prof. Dr. H. Nilgün Gürses and continued on. The event ended with the handing out of certificates of appreciation to the lecturers.
