The Department of Health Management, which began its educational activities with 30 students in the 2013–2014 academic year, aims to train professional health managers who can adapt to the rapidly changing dynamics of the healthcare sector, think analytically, are equipped with ethical values, and possess strategic decision-making competencies. The department offers a strong undergraduate education with a high-quality academic staff and an interdisciplinary, rich curriculum that addresses national health policies and global healthcare systems from a holistic perspective.
The program is supported by an optional one-year English preparatory course, followed by a four-year undergraduate education. The eight-semester curriculum includes not only core topics in health sciences but also integrated courses in management sciences, such as business management, healthcare financing, cost analysis, artificial intelligence applications, data analysis, programming, business law, and strategic planning. This structure aims to equip students with both classical theoretical knowledge and the digital and analytical competencies required by today's world.
Applied education is one of the program's fundamental components. In their fourth year, students have the opportunity to experience management processes in a real healthcare setting through the rotational “Workplace-Based Professional Practice Program," conducted within all administrative units of Bezmialem Vakıf University Medical Faculty Hospital. Through this experience, students integrate theory and practice, solidifying their professional identity before graduation.
Graduates of the Health Management Department are not only prepared for roles within healthcare institutions but are also future leaders capable of serving in strategic and operational positions across various sectors. Our graduates are employed as “health managers" or “healthcare administrators" primarily in public and private hospitals, as well as in medical tourism companies, pharmaceutical and medical device firms, health informatics and data analytics companies, and international health organizations. Furthermore, they can pursue managerial careers in sectors such as media, information technology, education, and consultancy.
Our department aims not only to equip students with professional knowledge and skills but also to foster their capacity to develop innovative solutions aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services and supporting systemic sustainability. In this regard, health management education is designed not merely as a vocational training process but as a strategic formation process that contributes to the improvement of societal health outcomes.
