"Elderly Patient Care At Home" training was carried out as part of the "Patient School Programme" at Bezmialem Vakıf University. Our academicians, health personnel, patients and patient relatives attended the "Elderly Patient Care At Home" training which was held at the Deanship Conference Hall. The training began with an introductory video of our university.
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department Uzm. Dr. Aysel Gülcan Atçı explained about the changes that occur in the bodies of elder and bed bound patients. As for Neurology Department Uzm. Dr. Aysel Gülcan Atçı, she explained the neurologic diseases like Alzheimer, Parkinson and stroke which mainly occur in elderly patients. Nurse Cemile Akan gave a presentation in light of information on preventions that can be taken against bed sores that are likely to occur in bed bound patients and about what can be done when sores do occur. Nurse Hülya Akbulut gave information on the personal care of bed bound patients. The event ended with Physiotherapist Burcu Çabuk's speech on the types of exercises which limited elder and bed bound patients can do on their own or with the help of their relatives.
