Great interest to our World Kidney Day Symposium! 10/3/2016

In her opening speech, our Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu stated that this year, children have been highlighted and said, ‘We are organizing events with different themes for the last ten years. This year, we returned to our children and approached them. An adult's kidneys are the same when they are children.’ Our Chancellor who drew attention to high death rates due to kidney disease and added, ‘According to the world disease data published in 2013, we realized that in 2013 one in every 67 death is caused by kidney diseases. We also noticed that one in every seven person in Turkey suffers from kidney diseases. Kidney diseases can be prevented in the most part. Our aim is to explain this to people.’ On the other hand, in the symposium that had been held in two parts, themes like 'Healthy Child, Healthy Kidney', 'How Do We Protect Children from Kidney Disease', 'Kidney and Urinary System Problems Seen Frequently in Children' and 'Renal Failure in Children' have been discussed. In the second part of the symposium, themes including 'Dialysis Treatment in Children', 'Kidney Transplantation in Children' and 'Psycho-Social Approaches to the Child and the Family' were explored.
