Between April 22 - 24th, the 1st National Medical Students Congress was organized at our university. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees Ahmet Akça, Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu, Board of Trustees Member Prof. Dr. Ahmet Gül, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ethem Güneren, Secretary General Zeynep Gökçen, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Sema Arıcı and many academicians and students attended the event held at the Conference Hall of our Deanship.
In the opening speech of the congress, our Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu stated that all students should benefit from their colleagues and said, ‘I'm sure that every one of you would benefit from my valuable colleagues effectively in this event. Don't hesitate to interact with each and every teacher; ask what you are curious about and always question everything. As a result of your efforts, success will always be on your side. At this point, we are always ready to stand by you and support you in any way.’
Our Chancellor also thanked to the academicians that participated in the congress and said, ‘Our institution, as the pioneer health university of Turkey, continues the 'charity' culture of Bezmialem Valide Sultan. Our school, that says 'Health comes first' in its studies, takes other big steps on that direction today. I'm very glad that you, valuable academicians are among us in our congress.’
In the three day congress, the first day included Transplantation, Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Cardiology Panel, and on the second day Oncology and Plastic Surgery Panels took place. In addition, in the scope of the event our students and faculty members organized several workshops and meetings. Erciyes University Medical Faculty first grade student Ömer Kılıç has won the grand prize on Verbal Presentation.
