In scope of the "Bezmialem Valide Sultan Commemoration week" which was held by Bezmialem Vakıf University the Unity Foundation MTTB Headquarters held a conference titled "From Vakıf Gureba To Bezmialem Vakıf University Trust Civilization". Chairman of the board of trustees Ahmet Akça, rector Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu, Minister of National Defence assistant Av. Şuay Alpay, Endowments 1. District Manager Mürsel Sarı Unity Foundation Chairman Mehmet Alacacı, Rector Consultant Prof. Dr. Erdal Tekarslan, General Secretary Zeynep Gökçen, Board of Trustees founding member Av. Chairman of the board of trustees Ahmet Akça who carried out the opening speech of the conference, "Bezmialem Valide Sultan is a very important representative of our civilization. She has always stood by the poor and was utterly generous, openhanded, compassionate and merciful. Our civilization is a civilization of love and kindness. When we take a glance at the features of the civilizations representatives we see that they love human kind, carry out acts of kindness and do whatever they can in order to maket he lives of others easier. It is these features that we see in Bezmialem Valide Sultan and it is our most important duty to sustain Bezmialem in this century".
Stating that it their aim to transform Bezmialem Vakıf University into a national and international establishment, Chairman of the board of trustees Ahmet Akça , "Every year we educate more than 3000 students and provide health services. If this establishment had not been turned into a univeristy in 2010 maybe today it would not exist. For this reason may Allah bless our president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. When we were handed over this building it was crumbling, and it got back up on its feet when it was turned to a university, and was transformed into an establishment that provides splendidly valuable services today. As a health university our mission is to turn this place into a reference estalishment in the national and international field and we are working very hard for this. "
Rector Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu who refered to the importance of the foundation (charity) culture, "In our social aid and solidarity culture that has continued on for hundreds of years, foundations are the most important establishments, the institutionalized forms of love, compassion and affection. Today it must be our primary mission to maintain the heritage that our ancestors have consigned to us and hand it down to the next generations. In the Ottoman era, with no discrimination between people "The most beneficial of humans are the ones most beneficial to mankind" and "Devote to let live" conception has taken place with the foundation culture. Bezm-i Alem Gureba-i Müslimin Hospital, which has been transformed into Bezmialem Vakıf University in 2010, is the most exceptional and magnificant example of the foundation culture that our ancestors have handed down to us."
Rector Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu added, "Bezm-i Alem Gureba-i Müslimin Hospital , which had been providing health services for 172 years, was transformed into Bezmialem Vakıf University in 2010. As Bezmialem Valide Sultan's followers, we are trying to raise scientists, and to conduce towards teaching them this foundation culture , the foundation manners which we have been consigned and to let them live their lives in this frame. Today, as the the representative of the trust civilization and trust awareness, Bezmialem Vakıf University will continue to grow by keeping alive the solidarity and benevolent emotions with the pride of handing all these down to the next generation."
Board of Trustees founding member Av. Ali Cahit Polat, "Bezm-i Alem Gureba-i Müslimin Hospital whch was founded in 1845 , has undergone a difficult historical process and come to these days, and holds a 172 year old deep rooted history. Our universities amendments have been made by the Vakıflar Headquarters contributions , and has attained an identity proper to its history. Even the porcelain plates, that have recovery verses (from the Qur'an) which the patients eat from are enough to explain the deep rooted history and foundation civilizstion." Board of Trustees founding member Av. Ali Cahit Polat who drew attention to the fact that Bezm-i Alem Gureba-i Müslimin Hospital also took place in literary works too, stated , "The most relevant of them being Peyami Safa's Dokuzuncu Hariciye Koğuşu (The 9th Surgical Ward) ve Samiha Ayverdi's Hatıralarla Başbaşa (Alone With Memories).
Board of Trustees founding member Av. Ali Cahit Polat , who states that they are trying to raise students that are taking up Bezmialem Valide Sultan as their role model and appropriate to the foundation spirit, "We want to raise doctors that dont run after personal interests after graduation. The spiritualness that gives a feeling of entering heaven when entering the gardens, the deep rooted history, the new technology and treatment opportunities and with our Chairman of the board of trustees Ahmet Akça in the lead, to continue to be worthy of the foundation civilization and to build works together with our academicians and health personnel."
The event came to an end with a film that was about Valide Sultan's Bezm-i Alem Gureba-i Müslimin Hospital establishment story and Meydan Music Bands concert.
