The 2nd Pediatric themed 2nd National Medical Student Congress was held at our university.The congress which was held at the deanship conference hall and continued on for 2 days began with our national anthem and a moment of silence for our martyrs. Our rector Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu, rector assistant Prof. Dr. Ethem Güneren, Medical faculty dean Prof. Dr. Sema Arıcı, Medical faculty assistant dean Prof. Dr. Alpay Alkan and Medical faculty assistant dean Prof. Dr. Kazım Karaaslan, many academicians, health personnel and our students attended the congress.
Rector Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu who carried out the opening speech, stated that all of the students need to take benefit from their colleages and continued ; "We need to carry out scientific studies in order to carry our country forward in the scientific arena. Our medical faculty which has not yet released any graduates is holding the 2nd National Student Congress. These studies are a process involving ; moving forward with joint hands, learning, debating ideas, sharing information. This is why we need to evaluate scientific congresses very well. Enter a dialogue with your teacher and ask, interrogate without any hesitation about what you wonder about. Success will always be with you as a result of every single effort you put in. At this point we are always ready to give you all the support you need by standing by your side."
"I thank everyone who has contributed in their efforts to carry out the congress, in particular our rector Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu and Congress Consultant Assistant Prof. Dr. Kazım Karaaslan. Our students worked very hard, ran about busily and set their hearts on the congress in between their lessons and exams. I am proud with every one of them and I believe that we will go through a successful congress and that you will return to your courses and schools by obtaining new information from this congress. I am sure that you will benefit effectively from our valuable colleagues at this event."
Medical Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Sema Arıcı stated in her speech, "Last year we were very excited with the first congress we had held. This year we carry the same excitement. Because it is not easy to present a scientific congress. I thank everyone who organized the congress." Medical Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Sema Arıcı who pointed out that the students have chosen a difficult profession , "Medicine, as well as being a tough profession , it is also one that needs a life long practice. I hope that you are happy to have chosen this hardship; we are happy. Because it is a sacred and highly delightful profession that helps mankind. But in order to succeed in this profession you need to climb certain steps". Adding that it was very well directed of the congress to cover pediatrics, Medical Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Sema Arıcı thanked everyone who worked hard in preparing the congress and wished continuous success.
Congress Consultant assistant Prof. Dr. Kazım Karaaslan, stated in his speech, "We experience that the new generation interprets, analyzes, synthesizes, and carries out implications during events in a rather different way. But I would like to specify that we are trying to understand this. In a short amount of time our students prepared a scientific themed programme, got through to their teachers, prepared their workshops, held a social programme and managed to produce a magnificent organization. I Express my thanks to all the students who carried out this organization and wish them continuous success."
Assistant rector Prof. Dr. Ethem Güneren who announced the students who won the poster awards on the second day of the congress , "Hardship and obstacles are what develope a person. What is important is that you enter the congress, to enter this race and possess this topic. Possessing this topic means that you also possess the future of science in this country." At the poster presentation, Cerrahpaşa Medical faculty's Sedanur Güler, Şeyma Nur Asri and Yasemin Pişgin came first; Bezmiâlem Vakıf university's Enes Dik second, Bilal Saygın came third place. At the verbal presentation, Trakya University's Figen Tan came first; Bezmiâlem Vakıf university's Mehveş Beliz Beşışık second, Hacer Orak and Yusuf Çiçek received third place prize.
A thank you and participation certificate was handed out to the lecturers at the award ceremony that took place after the congress. Social events such as a gala dinner on the first evening, a closure dinner held at the university's garden on the second evening and a boat trip on the third day was organized at the congress.
