Under the cover of T.C Presidency, Bezmialem Vakıf University carried out its 2017 Academic Year Graduation Ceremony. Bezmialem Vakıf University; Medical Faculty, Dentistry Faculty, Faculty of Pharmacy, Health Sciences Faculty and Health Services Vocational High School produced its year 2017 graduates. The ceremony which started with the National Anthem and a stand of respect for the martyrs, continued with a video showing the history of our university. The ceremony, which was held in the Haliç Congress Center, was honored with the presence of our dear president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's wife Emine Erdoğan and was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Veysi Kaynak, Family and Social Policies Minister Dr. Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya, İstanbul Governer Vasip Şahin, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Ahmet Akça, Board of Trustees Members, our Rector Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu, Assistant Rector Prof. Dr. Ethem Güneren, Assistant Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Tuncay, General Secretary Zeynep Gökçen, our deans, senior guests, General Secretary assistants, dean assistants, institute managers, executives, academicians, press members, health personnel and students.
Our president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's wife dear Mrs. Emine Erdoğan, who carried out the opening speech at Bezmialem Vakıf University's 2017 Academic Year Graduation Ceremony stated; "Bezmialem Vakıf University occupies a very important place in our establishments. Because this establishment has risen from mercy. Bezmialem Valide Sultan had decided to build a hospital upon feeling merciful towards a patient she had run into on the streets. Her charity has been visited by the waif and strays for 172 years. This is a recovery nest. I commemorate with great gratitude and mercy all of our veterans who have contributed."
Emine Erdoğan, who congratulated all of our students and their families and stated how happy she was on being present at the ceremony continued, "I'm sure that being a graduate from a modern university within the scope of such a deep rooted trust institution must increase your excitement. The fact that your university is as much an innovator as it is deep rooted will increase the value of your diploma. I congratulate all of you from the bottom of my heart. I wish you success in every field of your career while I bid you farewell into life". Reminding us of the great Medical Scholar Ibn-i Sina's "Aletlerin en faydalısı kalemdir. Bir şişe mürekkep, bir külçe altından hayırlıdır" statement (The most valuable among tools is the pen. A bottle of ink, is much more beneficient than a nugget of gold"), she continued ; "I believe that Bezmialem Vakıf University will bring forth new approaches towards health and education issues and break ground in science perception."
Chairman of the Board of Trustees Ahmet Akça stated in the speech he carried out ,"The first 7 years of our university passed by pleasantly in a very intensive working environment. We tried to provide all of the necessary training facilities and all kinds of research opportunities in order for the university candidates to select Bezmialem. We plan on new builidings that are suited to our concept in order to carry Bezmialem forward." Chairman of the Board of Trustees Ahmet Akça congratulated all of the graduates and wished them a lifetime of happiness by fondly carrying our their careers.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees Ahmet Akça who gave advices to the graduate students, "Nothing in life is permanent, everything is temporary. Whats important for us is to carry out what we can in the best way during the moment we're in. There is no greater impression than a human who does his best." Chairman of the Board of Trustees Ahmet Akça , "Nations too have identities, just as individuals do. Civilizations are a nations identity. Our civilization is the Civilization of Islam, the civilization of kindness. We need to understand the values of our civilization, to live it, only this way can we ever exist. Bezmialem Vakıf University was established on these values. Our duty is to remain loyal to the principle : "The most beneficient of humans is one that is beneficial to mankind" and raise dutiful children. I wish Bezmialem Valide Sultan mercy from Allah and remember her with gratitude. I once again thank all of the descents of our motherland and to those who have served this establishment since the first day our university has been founded."
Our rector Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu who carried out her speech by calling out to the graduates , "You have proved your eagerness to work and success to us, to your teachers, to your families and most important of all to yourselves by completing Bezmialem Vakıf University's intense education programme, a university which posesses a 172 year old past and is one of Turkey's first health themed universities. I congratulate each and every one of you and embrace you with love. All of you know very well that; health is a persons most valuable and worthwhile treasure throughout their lifetime. Do not draw out from your comprehension that you, as fresh health personnel, are carrying out a sacred profession. You, as graduates from Bezmialem Vakıf University, own the necessary equipment to look after and protect mankinds most valuable treasure in the best possible way. Besides, with the top level education and Professional experience you have acquired at Bezmialem, you will already be able to do so at the frontmost in our country's army of health. As the present day representatives of a Bezmialem tradition that states "Health First" for 172 years we are carrying the pride and joy of following in the principles of Bezmialem Valide Sultan. It is our greatest desire that you too carry these values." Our rector Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu congratulated the graduate students and wished them all lifelong success.
Following the speeches, Emine Erdoğan handed out their diplomas to Bezmialem Vakıf University's 1st place in Health Sciences Ebru Zeren, Medical Faculty's 1st place Hüsna Esenoğlu, Dentistry Faculty's 1st place Elif Alkan, Faculty of Pharmacy's 1st place Gülşen Sönmez and other 1st place winners among the university's faculty, college and institutes. Emine Erdoğan was presented with a piece of artefact containing original historic statements regarding the hospitals establishment and inauguration by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Ahmet Akça. The graduation ceremony ended with the convocation ceremony and photo shoots.
