The philanthropist women of our history were commemorated at the "Founding Women" symposium held in partnership with the Vakıflar Directorate, our University and FSM Vakıf University Vakıflar Directorate.

The Founding Women Symposium which was held at our Deanship Conference Hall in scope of the Foundation Week, celebrated in the "Founding Women" theme, was attended by The Women and Democrasy Association Vice President Sümeyye Erdoğan Bayraktar, Vakıflar President Dr. Adnan Ertem, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Ahmet Akça, FSM Vakıf University Chairman of the Board of Trustees İsmail Gerçek, our Rector Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu and our executives.

Vice President of Women and Democracy Association Sümeyye Erdoğan Bayraktar stated that she was very pleased to be present at the opening of the symposium as a founding member. She continued, "

"In our civilization, the foundation efforts of women are a sign of theem having a financial sense of control, with the Foundation's work not solving only the needs of the needy, but shaping the city's culture and establishing centers of social life, regulatory and healing roles in social life. The Ottoman civilization is the most important civilization in the history of health, education and social welfare, cultural activities and public works are carried out by the foundations of the Ottoman Empire. The foundations are the second biggest economic power after the Ottoman economy. It is noteworthy that this power is formed around the emotions of love, compassion and social responsibility. These institutions make all poor-rich, strong-weak, sick-healthy people in the fraternity a shoulder to cry on. Therefore the feeling of compassion help each other survive in society. The foundations contributed to the balance of income and wealth distribution, thus preventing social crisis. By observing the honor and dignity of the individuals, it has enabled those in need to feel themselves valued in society. "

In their speech, Vakıflar President Dr. Adnan Ertem stated, "As the Vakiflar General Directorate we make an effort to celebrate the second week of May every year. We have given a name to the "foundations week" by acting on the functions of the foundations until today. A theme was not so difficult to find because the foundations had invaded every field from the past to the present day. This year, we have established our foundation on women of foundation. The Foundation is our historical and cultural value which has an impact on society. We continue our activities through the creation of this consciousness today in the Vakiflar General Directorate. There are many foundations in places where Islamic civilizations prevail. In Karaman there is the Hatuni Medrese (School), Devlet Hatun Mosque in Konya, Gülbahar Hatun Mosque in Trabzon and Hürrem Sultan Hospice in Jerusalem which some of the ones that we can count as a large part of these works which have been passed on to us today.  A large part of these extant monuments reveal the care and attention the founding woman have shown towards establishing foundations. These establishments show the elegance of a woman in her architectural style. The walls decorated with graceful patterns seem to carry the signatures of the foundations that built the foundation. Founders of women's foundations made a great contribution to foundation civilization and contributed to rearing our civilization. "

Chairman of the Board of Trustees Ahmet Akça stated in his speech, "The foundations are institutionalized versions of love, respect and compassion shown towards people. This phrase is so convenient for our mothers. Therefore every lady, every mother works as a foundation." Ahmet Akca, who emphasizes that the foundations are the institutionalized versions of respect and love, continued; " Bezmialem Vakıf University has done a lot of good work since its establishment. Just as 200 years of history has come to this day, we are trying to carry this institution over another 200 years. Perhaps Karaviyyun University which was founded in 865 in Morocco was the first university in human history. Fatima El Fihri, who founded that university, was a famous lady. And that university raises such valuable people who are important representatives of our civilization, such as Ibn Khaldun and Ibn Arabi who were raised there. But Pope II. The Sylvester was also raised there. So whatever we are doing today, the world's first university did it back then. The first university in the West was founded 250 years later. So we are representatives of a very valuable civilization. I hope that we will all live in this kindness, compassion and merciful civilization."

The foundations are establishments we have inherited from our ancestors through hundreds of years of cooperation, and which will live on forever. It is our primary duty to keep the foundations entrusted to us.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Rumeyza Kazancıoğlu stated that it was important for the Foundations Week theme to be recognized as the Foundation Women. Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancioğlu said, "It is important for us that this year's Foundations Week has been determined as women who set up foundations. As you know, our founder Bezmialem Valide Sultan is an important founding woman, a Valide Sultan who has earned the most establishments of our history for society. It makes it more meaningful for us to be hosting this symposium where managers, staff and students are predominantly female. I would like to express my deepest gratitude for welcoming you to our Bezmialem Vakıf  (Foundation) University. I thank the Vakıflar General Directorate and the Board of Trustees for their support in this event. It is our primary duty to keep the foundations entrusted to us with the ongoing assistance, the ancestors have inherited to us and will live forever. "
