Bezmialem Vakıf University has been battling intensely since the first day with the COVID-19 Pandemic, which first appeared in Wuhan, China and showed its effect worldwide as of March. In addition to our hospital, which has stood by our patients who are waiting to be healed, our university focused on academic studies within the scope of COVID-19.
Our symposium titled 'COVID-19 Symposium Bezmialem Experience' was broadcasted live on Friday, December 8th, 2020 from the Zoom platform and our university's YouTube account. At the symposium where our Head of Otorhinolaryngology Department Prof. Dr. Orhan Özturan was the moderator, our Rector Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu carried out a speech on the 'Current Situation in our Country and in the World during the COVID-19 Pandemic." Our Rector conveyed the process of the COVID-19 Pandemic, seen throughout the world, and then the World Health Organization's proclamation of the Coronavirus infection as a Pandemic with its spread in the European continent. Our Rector also detailed the situation in our country and university hospital, and shared the current data to the participants with the studies carried out before and after the patient cases.
After our Rector, Assoc. Dr. Fatmanur Okyaltırık conveyed their presentations titled "Clinical Table in Adults", Prof. Dr. Özden Türel "Clinical Table in Children", Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ziya Doymaz and Assoc. Dr. Bilge Sümbül "Virological Diagnostic Methods and Activity Levels", Prof. Dr. Mehmet Bilgin "Radiological Diagnostic Methods and Efficiency Levels", Assoc. Dr. Bülent Durdu "The proposed measures for the Prevention of the Epidemic" and Assoc. Dr. Bedia Gülen conveyed their presentation titled "Emergency Service Organization and Patient Hospitalization Flow Chart in Bezmialem" to the participants.
Our chief physician at the Bezmiâlem Vakıf University Hospital, Assoc. Dr. Arif Koytak, conveyed the work carried out in our hospital with his presentation titled "General Hospital Management for Effective Health Care".
Prof. Dr. Meliha Meriç Koç presented their study titled "Our Current Treatment Protocol in Bezmialem", Assoc. Dr. Güven Çetin "Immune Plasma Treatment in Bezmialem", Prof. Dr. Ayda Türköz "Patient Management in Intensive Care" and Our Assistant Rector Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Tuncay reported his COVID-19 infection in this period with the title "First Hand Experience".
Assoc. Dr. Alper Yenigün carried out presentations on "Precautions to Be Taken for Surgical Interventions" and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Özlem Su Küçük on "Medical Education in the Epidemic Period".
The symposium ended with the closing speech by our rector Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu.
