Our university made a remarkable impact at the 9th Istanbul International Invention Fair ISIF'24, held as part of TEKNOFEST, returning with gold, silver, and bronze medals.
Continuing to contribute to our country's scientific and technological advancements, Bezmialem University earned four medals at ISIF'24, which took place during TEKNOFEST Adana: one gold, two bronze, and one silver.
We Brought Home the Gold Medal
At ISIF'24, our academic team, including Prof. Dr. Alper Yenigün and Dr. Vildan Betül Yenigün, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Asram Sağıroğlu from Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, achieved great success with their patented project titled “Nasal Analgesic Spray Formulation Containing Diclofenac Sodium." This innovative invention was awarded the Gold Medal at the international patent fair. The prestigious award was presented on October 5, 2024, by Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Kasım Gönüllü and President of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office Prof. Dr. Zeki Durak.
Medal Upon Medal
In the competitions, our Technology Transfer Office (TTO) Director Onur Yolay, along with Alperen Tağman and Agricultural Engineer Samet Çiçek, received a bronze medal for their invention titled “Artificial Intelligence-Based Decision Support System for Disease, Pest, and Weed Control." From our Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Dr. Evrim Dalkılıç and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burcu Oğlakçı Özkoç, along with our Head of Medical Biochemistry, Prof. Dr. Abdurrahim Koçyiğit, and Dr. Ayşegül Akdoğan Eker, as well as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zümrüt Ceren Özduman, Research Assistant Metehan Demirkol, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bedri Onur Küçükyıldırım, and Prof. Dr. Pelin Yüksel Mayda, received bronze medals for their invention titled “Production Method for Titanium Dioxide Nanotube-Reinforced Glass Ionomer Cements."
Additionally, Dr. Yusuf Sürücü, Bilal Enes Okatar, and Prof. Dr. Ethem Güneren earned a Silver Medal Award for their invention titled “A Method for the Production of a Mechanically Strong and Biocompatible Fibrin Tissue Scaffold."
We Participated in the TEKNOFEST 2024 Champions League
Hakan Avcı, a graduate of the Faculty of Pharmacy (2023-2024), received the second prize in the “Health" category at the TÜBİTAK 2242 University Students Research Project Competitions for his project titled “Injection of Drug-Loaded and Biodegradable Novel Starch Spheres into Pancreatic Cancer Tissue," under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Deniz Ceylan. Due to this achievement, Hakan and his advisor were invited to the TEKNOFEST 2024 Adana Champions League competition, where they successfully progressed through various stages to reach the finals, presenting their social responsibility project titled “BENIGNIFY: A Platform for Overcoming Cancer Together."
Additionally, the team that included Ayşenur Bindal, a second-year student from the Faculty of Pharmacy, was awarded third place in the Biotechnology and Innovation Competition.
