The Faculty of Medicine of our University successfully carried out another important step in preparing future physicians for their profession with the traditional White Coat Ceremony. During the ceremony, our students donned their white coats—symbolizing professional responsibility, ethical values, and the vital role of medicine in human life—from the hands of their academic mentors.
The ceremony was held with the participation of our Rector, Prof. Dr. Adem Akçakaya; Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Ramazan Özdemir; and our academic staff.
In his address, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Adem Akçakaya, emphasized that medicine is not merely a profession, but a mission grounded in conscience, science, and responsibility—one that prioritizes human life above all. Drawing attention to Bezmiâlem's healthcare tradition spanning more than two centuries, he highlighted the significant advantages our University offers students through its research capacity, international scientific visibility, publication performance, clinical training environments, and institutional achievements.
Prof. Dr. Akçakaya also underscored that our University possesses strong infrastructure in areas such as the multidisciplinary approach required by modern medicine, advanced medical practices, clinical research, and personalized treatment methods. He noted the momentum gained in recent years through increases in publication output, international research collaborations, TÜBİTAK and European Union–supported projects, the development of clinical research centers, and the growth of our multidisciplinary scientific productivity.
He concluded his remarks by emphasizing that modern medical education requires cultivating future physicians not only with clinical skills but also with research culture, scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and technological competence.
Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Ramazan Özdemir, highlighted the importance of ethical values, scientific accuracy, and clinical mastery in medical education. He stated that our Faculty, with its accreditation processes, scientific projects, clinical research centers, and strong laboratory infrastructure, is one of Türkiye's leading medical schools. He noted that the active participation of our students in scientific projects is an important factor contributing to increased productivity.
Following the speeches, our students donned their white coats from the hands of our faculty members, taking their first step on their journey toward becoming physicians. Throughout the ceremony, our students and their families experienced moments of great pride.
Our University's Faculty of Medicine continues to prepare future physicians with a strong sense of responsibility toward public health by building medical education on ethical, scientific, and humanitarian values.
