The aim of this course is to teach audiology students professional English as a foreign language in order to support their professional growth. In this course taught in the first semester of the first year, students are expected to have at least an intermediate level of English, and the course materials focus on the terminology students will need throughout their professional life with special emphasis on correct spelling and pronunciation. Students' attention will be specifically drawn into the Latin forms of the terms with prefixes and suffixes. The course is designed to teach students nursing terminology through the extensive use of audio-visual tools. At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to correctly spell and pronounce basic terms in addition to recognizing tODY in a technical text as well as being able to produce sentences on their own. |

INGODY 1201 Professional English in Audiology II | Compulsory

The aim of this course is to continue teaching nursing students professional English as a foreign language in order to support their professional growth. In this course taught in the second semester of the first year, students are expected to have at least an intermediate level of English. The students will learn words, phrases and collocations used by the audiology professionals practicing in the UK and USA, and they will start drilling 'patient- audiologist’ dialogues through role-playing. They will exercise the necessary skills to communicate with a colleague easily, and discuss cases in a clinical setting. They will also watch, listen and read similar model conversations. The course is supplemented with audio-visual tools. |
