This is hereby to announce that Bezmiâlem Vakıf University is honored to invite you to attend the joint congress which is to be held by Cleveland Clinic and Bezmiâlem Vakıf University within the scope Newborn and Infant between Nov.8 and Nov.9.
Bezmiâlem Vakıf University which is the first foundation university in Turkey just focusing on health sciences field has organized this two-day long congress. The first day will be focusing on Child Neurology while the second day presentations will be for Pediatrics' specialists, whereby their knowledge on pediatricians and pediatric neurology will be updated.
To contribute to the excitement of the scientific congress, we - the child neurologists' family are highly pleased to share the latest scientific developments in child neurology with the faculty members who have been serving at infant's neurological centers in various universities We hope that the Specialized meetings relevant to the congress topics will contribute to the development of this subtle branch of science.
We tried to prepare such a congress for you which contains the most updated content in collaboration with our national and international participants hoping that your participation will escalate the exchange of scientific information. We will be quite happy to receive you in our university which is the first institution to be given the name "hospital" in Turkish history.

Dr.Prakash Kotagal
Prakash Kotagal, MD, is Head of the Pediatric Epilepsy Section at Cleveland Clinic.
He attended medical school at the Jawaharlal Institute in Pondicherry, India, and received his medical degree from the University of Madras. He received his training in pediatrics at St. Louis University and pediatric neurology at Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Kotagal went on to complete fellowships in EEG, clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy at Cleveland Clinic, and he also trained in pediatric sleep disorders at Children's Hospital, Boston.
He has published many papers in journals such as Neurology, Epilepsia, Epilepsy Research, Archives of Neurology, Journal of Pediatric Neurology, Pediatrics, Pediatric Neurology, Seminars in Pediatric Neurology and Seizure.
He is also editor of the textbook "The Epilepsies: Etiologies & Prevention," and he has also written many book chapters related to epilepsy and sleep. He is on the advisory board of the Epilepsy Association in Cleveland.
Dr.Nell Friedman
Center for Pediatric Neurology
Nell Friedman obtained his medical degree from the University of Cape Town, South Africa in 1987. He worked for 10 months in pediatric neuromuscular disorders under Professor Victor Dubowitz at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, London, United Kingdom. His specialty training included a Pediatrics residency at the University of Arizona (1995) with subsequent completion of a Neurology fellowship with special qualifications in Child Neurology through Children's Hospital, Boston (1998). Since 1998, Dr. Friedman has served as a staff physician in Pediatric Neurology at the Cleveland Clinic. He is board-certified in both Pediatrics and Neurology. He is the director of the Pediatric Neurology Training Fellowship since 2003.
Dr. Friedman's specialty interests include pediatric stroke, the neurological complications of congenital heart disease and cardiomyopathy, pediatric neuromuscular disease and neonatal neurology. He has been instrumental in establishing an Ohio Pediatric Stroke Registry and is a member of the International Pediatric Stroke Study consortium.
Dr.Elaine Wyllie
Elaine Wyllie, MD, Professor of Pediatrics, is a world renowned thought leader in epilepsy medicine. She directs the Cleveland Clinic's Center for Pediatric Neurology, ranked by US News and World Reportas one of the top four programs in the country. Dr. Wyllie has been on the Castle Connolly list of America's Best Doctors for many years, as well as on several other national and regional Top Doctors lists. Dr. Wyllie is certified by Clinical Neurophysiology and Sleep Medicine. After her training she joined the professional staff of the Cleveland Clinic to establish the pediatric epilepsy program. Together with her colleagues in the Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital and Epilepsy Center, Dr. Wyllie built long referral lines for innovative medical or surgical treatment of children with epilepsy.
Dr. Wyllie is editor of the leading medical textbook in the field, Wyllie's Treatment of Epilepsy. The book has sold over 40,000 copies in countries on every continent. Dr. Wyllie has published over 250 reports on her research in epilepsy in scientific journals. Dr. Wyllie publishes on diverse topics including pediatric electroencephalography (EEG), the significance of various symptoms during seizures, the use of antiepileptic medications, and diagnosis and treatment of non-epileptic psychogenic seizures. She has organized and directed over 40 national and international courses and scientific meetings.
