Lead by our Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Prof. Gülaçtı Topçu, the "International Conference on Bioactive Natural Products" was held at our University on November 30th, 2021, in memory of the 1st year of Prof. Ayhan Ulubelen's passing.
During the online international conference, the valuable scientists and colleagues which Prof. Ayhan Ulubelen had trained during his academic life, shared their memories and feelings of the Professor, who was one of the pioneers of natural products chemistry in Turkey and the first scientist to use the NMR (Nuclear magnetic resonance) device extensively in the determination of the structure of natural compounds, in our country The guest speakers carried out scientific presentations on natural products.
Prof. Atta-ur- Rahman, Prof. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Prof. İhsan Çalış and Prof. Hüsnü Can Başer carried out their scientific presentations as guest speakers in the first session of this conference, which was moderated by our Dean Prof. Gülaçtı Topçu, who was one of Ulubelen's doctoral students.
In the commemorative speeches, Prof. G. Topçu made a presentation on Prof. Ayhan Ulubelen's academic life and all his contributions and achievements to our country. After an emotional presentation, colleagues who worked with Prof. Ulubelen, doctoral students, and those who watched the conference shared their feelings and thoughts, either verbally or in writing.
In the last session of the program, Prof. Reşat Apak, Prof. Ahsana Dar Farooq, Prof. Mahmud Miski, Prof. David. G. I. Kingston and Prof. Geoffrey A. Cordell made their scientific presentations as guest speakers.
The program ended after the sharing of questions, feelings and thoughts on online platforms and closing speeches.
