Turkey's most extensive TAVI Summit, led by Bezmialem Vakıf University, took place. More than 200 scientists attended the summit for the TAVI method, which is known as the method for saving the lives of patients that are in risk of open heart surgery. Prof. Dr. Ramazan Özdemir of the BVU Faculty of Medicine Cardiology Department termed TAVI as "the advanced stage of cardiology".
Prof. Dr. Ramazan Özdemir of the BVU Faculty of Medicine Cardiology Department, who carried out a detailed briefing on the TAVI method, specified that the procedure is the latest stage which technology and cardiology has come to. Stating that the TAVI procedure has been applied very successfully, especially since 2010, in both Turkey and globally, Prof. Dr. Ramazan Özdemir said, "We apply this procedure many times within the scope of our university. For this reason we have deemed it suitable to gather together with our specialist friends from our country and abroad and share our experiences and live cases, as though it were a course , in a sort of educative meeting. This has been the largest TAVI meeting carried out so far. Frankly speaking, the procedure has covered a great distance after the year 2010. In addition, the results have turned out better and better. The TAVI method which was once used for high risk patients that were not suitable for surgery, is now also accepted as an alternative method for patients that are suitable for surgical interventions." Prof. Dr. Ramazan Özdemir who stated that Turkey is racing head to head with other countries for the TAVI method, rounded off by saying "We can say that Turkey has broken grounds for this method."
