In scope of the Vakıflar Week we visited Valide Sultan's grave and commemorated the ceremony.
Under the leadership of our Rector Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancioğlu, our assistant Rector. Dr. Ibrahim Tuncay, General Secretary Zeynep Gökçen, Faculty of Health Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Ahmet Belce, our executives, academicians and students participated in the visit where Ashura (dessert) was distributed in memory of Bezmialem Valide Sultan. Emotions were triggered during the commemoration ceremony of Bezmialem Valide Sultan, the wife of Sultan 2. Mahmud and mother of Sultan Abdülmecit, who passed away as a Valide Sultan who moved through the ages. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu stated, "Bezmialem Valide Sultan has not only confined herself to charities but has also paid great attention to work at the same time. She had great respect for the scientists of the period and has tried to support them as much as she could. The modern foundations of medicine at the Bezmialem Vakıf Gureba-i Müslimin have been one of the most precious consequences of this understanding and foresight. We cannot go without mentioning the great affection that the people had towards her while talking about Valide Sultan. Of course, the public also felt great love towards such a dear person as the Valide Sultan who they could visit and explain their problems and find solutions. Bezmialem Valide Sultan has never closed her doors against this affection, and has worked with might to find solutions to the problems of the people. Obviously, Bezmialem Valide Sultan never broke away from the helpless and always led the society."
