The foundation of BILSAB dates back to 2014, yet our origins are deeply intertwined with the long history of Gureba-i Müslimin Hospital, which has provided healthcare services for nearly 200 years. This historical institution serves as a powerful symbol of Türkiye’s enduring commitment to public health and service to humanity—a philosophy that continues to shape BILSAB today.
BILSAB was conceived as a strategic response to Türkiye’s growing need for highly trained scientists and researchers in the fields of life sciences and biotechnology. From its inception, the institute was guided by the belief that science, technology, and education are critical drivers of national and global progress.
Between 2014 and 2018, significant investments were made in restoring the historical campus, funded by the Ministry of Development and Bezmialem Vakıf University, creating an environment that seamlessly blends cutting-edge infrastructure with architectural integrity. In 2018, BILSAB officially opened its doors, marking the beginning of a new era in biomedical research and education in Türkiye.
