In addition to protecting and improving quality of life by specialist health personnel in this area, it has been felt that the necessity of nutritional supervision and control of the patient with the treatment of the diets is mainly felt. In this context, the profession of dieticians was developed in the course of the 1870s for the first time in the United States.Dietitianism was first described in 1899 as "Dietitian is a person who has been trained in food and nutrition and can practice supervised dietary treatment". Due to the nutritional problems that occurred during World War I and II., the profession increased and the first occupational integrity was achieved in 1917 with the contribution of the American Dietetic Association (ADA). The standards of the dietician profession were first established in 1961 by the International Labor Organization (ILO).In Turkey; Hacettepe University Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Nutrition and Dietetics started education and research activities in the field of nutrition and dietetics with the program of "Dietetic", which was opened in 1962 in "Hacettepe School of Health Sciences". Founded by Professor Dr. Ayse Baysal, who developed this program at Hacettepe University Department of Nutrition and Dietetics ; it was the beginning of dietetics education in Turkey. Over time, many universities have begun to teach this area.
