Bezmialem Valide Sultan Interview Took Place 9/10/2018

​​Under the lead of Mrs. Emine Erdoğan and with the participation of Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu and our General Secretary Zeynep Gökçen, the cultural program with the theme of "A Philanthropist Sultan: Bezmialem Valide Sultan" took place at the Dolmabahçe Palace Meşkhane Hall.

At the interview which was carried out by Pelin Çift , the life of Sultan Abdülmecid's mother and Mahmud II wife Bezmialem Valide Sultan and the artifacts  and services she provided to the nation were described by Prof. Dr. Arzu Terzi.  Addressing the guests at the end of the interview, Mrs. Emine Erdoğan pointed out the philanthropic women who established foundations in the Ottoman history and stated that these names are important figures that should be accepted as rolemodels by today's Turkish women.

Special guests from the world of business, art and academics such as Ayşe Cevahir, Demet Sabancı Çetindoğan, Leyla Alaton, Meltem Demirören Okyay, Mutlu Alkan, Suzan Toplusoy, Yasemin Gür, Prof. Dr. Ayten Altıntaş, Prof. Dr. Neşe Kavak, Prof. Dr. Hülya Tezcan, Prof. Dr. Ümit Meriç, Hülya Koçyiğit and Demet Şener attended the event. The guests were welcomed with rose sherbet and served ashura on the occasion of the month of Muharrem.

Also during the program, members of Istanbul University Ottoman Music Research and Application Center (OMAR) gave a mini concert composed of works from the period of Bezmialem Valide Sultan. At the event, with the support of our University, the book "Bezmialem Valide Sultan" which was written by Prof. Dr. Arzu Terzi was presented to Mrs. Emine Erdoğan by our Rector Prof. Dr. Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu.
