In our country or anywhere in the world, we frequently come across news about extraordinary situations or disasters that threaten social life and individual existence. The increase in human population, changing environmental conditions and omissions increase the frequency and severity of these situations. Many non-governmental organizations work together with public institutions in eliminating the victimization and this process is also supported by individual initiatives. However, the lack of coordination between these structures and the unplanned and uninformed interventions that often accompany this make it difficult to intervene in the process correctly. These not only affect the process negatively, but also lead to an increase in injuries and fatalities. Managing natural disasters and other extraordinary situations requires a complex management of people. The realization of this necessity has led to the need to train health personnel who can carry out interventions based on scientific foundations in disaster management. Important initiatives have been taken in many countries to establish a health disaster management system that evaluates the disaster in different aspects and plans to minimize the loss of life and property. Significant initiatives are also being taken in this field in our country.

After the recent disasters in our country, the negativities experienced frequently come to the public agenda and the areas that need to be improved become visible. One of these problems is the disorganization in emergency aid services and the lack of adequate health disaster management system. The resulting unfavorable situations also threaten national resources and security infrastructure. To alleviate the medical problems and other extraordinary situations arising after disasters qualified medical specialists are needed.
