Those who are graduates or students of a higher education institution and want to increase their knowledge in a particular subject can enroll in the courses opened in the institutes as special students with the appropriate opinion of the relevant department chair.
The principles regarding special students are as follows;
a) Special students are not awarded diplomas or degrees. However, they are given a document showing the courses they have taken and their grades in the programs they follow.
b) In order for special students to register for the courses, they must obtain approval from the departments that open the relevant courses and fulfill their financial obligations.
c) Those who take courses as special students cannot benefit from their student rights, but they have to fulfill the students' attendance, examination, discipline and similar obligations.
d) Special studentship is not an education aimed at obtaining a degree directly in the relevant program and its duration cannot exceed two semesters.
e) The credits of the courses taken in the special student status at the universities can then be counted towards the credits of the courses of the program in which the student is enrolled.
f) In the exemption procedures of the courses to be held when a student starts a new graduate program, the credits of the courses taken and succeeded as a special student cannot exceed 50% of the courses of the relevant graduate program and the number of compulsory credits.
The exemption status is determined by taking the opinion of the department chair and the decision of the Board of Directors of the Institute.
The documents required to apply to graduate programs as a special student are listed below:
1. Application petition and application form (1 item)
2. Notarized copy of bachelor's/master's diploma or provisional graduation certificate (1 item)
3. Photocopy of undergraduate / graduate transcript (translated into 100-point grading system) (1 item)
4. Turkish translation of bachelor's / master's diploma or temporary graduation certificate for candidates who have graduated from higher education institutions abroad (1 copy)
5. Notarized copy of the equivalency certificate obtained from the Council of Higher Education for candidates who have graduated from higher education institutions abroad (1 item)
6. Turkish translation of the bachelor's / master's transcript for the candidates who have graduated from higher education institutions abroad (1 item)
7. Photocopy of identity card (1 copy)
8. Photocopy of criminal record (1 copy)
9. Passport size photo (3 pieces)
