Organized by the Bezmialem Vakıf University Faculty of Medicine Student Society, BVUBAT Symposium 24 was held on November 23, 2024, at the Abdülhamid Han Auditorium on the Vatan Campus. Focusing on General Surgery and Internal Medicine, the symposium brought together Turkey's leading academics and prominent figures in the medical field.
With the participation of renowned experts, the event offered a scientific feast, presenting the latest medical advancements and innovative treatment methods through a rich and dynamic program.
Scientific Depth and Engaging Presentations
The symposium featured three main sessions and a panel discussion. The first session explored “Medical and Surgical Approaches to Thyroid Diseases," moderated by Prof. Dr. Yeliz Emine Ersoy. Distinguished speakers Prof. Dr. Ayşe Kubat Üzüm and Prof. Dr. Fatih Tunca provided valuable insights into thyroid metabolism and surgical techniques.
The second session focused on “Obesity" and was moderated by Prof. Dr. Adem Akçakaya. During this session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Feray Akbaş presented medical treatment methods, while Prof. Dr. Halil Coşkun shared the latest developments in surgical interventions.
The panel, titled “Geriatric Oncology," was moderated by students and enriched by the contributions of esteemed academics, including Prof. Dr. Pınar Soysal, Prof. Dr. Aziz Karaoğlu, and Prof. Dr. Adem Akçakaya.
The final session addressed “Transplantation (Liver)" and was moderated by Dr. Sercan Kiremitçi. In this session, Prof. Dr. Murat Aladağ discussed the timing of organ transplantation, and Prof. Dr. Sezai Yılmaz shared groundbreaking insights into the world's first-ever “6-Way Paired Liver Exchange Transplant."
