Johns Hopkins University Collaboration

Within the scope of research education at Bezmialem Vakıf University Faculty of Medicine, the qualifications determined in the National Qualifications Framework for pre-graduate medical education constitute the infrastructure of the Scientific Committee. The "Scientific Committee" practice, which is not available in other Medical Faculties and is included in our curriculum, has been carried out together with Johns Hopkins University academics, with whom we have a curriculum development agreement, since the 2015-2016 academic year. Modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 and Research Day programs are carried out for the 4th and 5th grade students of the Faculty of Medicine by academics who are experts in their fields for 1.5 years. In the Research Day program, our students present their studies in oral and poster presentations, and summary information of the studies is published as a special issue in Bezmialem Science.

Each student must complete a scientific project within this 1.5-year period and present it to the committee administrators and be successful in the scientific committee as a preliminary for starting the 6th grade. In each academic year, ten 6th year students of the Faculty of Medicine are entitled to do a clinical rotation at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and they do a clinical rotation for 1 month.

In addition, every academic year, expert academics from Johns Hopkins University give lectures to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades of our Faculty of Medicine in accordance with the curriculum.
